Jacob Plays Beethoven
SUNDAY 2/3 • 3 PM
2365 Pine Avenue • Vero Beach

Three prodigious talents -- one unforgettable concert. Over ten seasons, Aaron Collins and the musicians of your Space Coast Symphony have worked with hundreds of talented young musicians through various educational programs and concerts. This electric program will feature three of our favorites. Sixteen year old, Monet Jowers performs one of the most-loved concertos of all time, Grieg’s Piano Concerto. This concerto is among Grieg’s earliest important works and the only concerto the composer completed. Isaac Moorman, also sixteen years of age, grew up in and with the SCSO. Moorman will perform Saint-Saëns’ First Cello Concerto, a longtime favorite of the general public, is a taut, unified work, with numerous opportunities for both lyrical expression and bravura fireworks. Eleven year old phenom and superstar, Jacob Velazquez returns to perform Beethoven's First Concerto. The willful streak that carried Beethoven through so much personal hardship was already well developed in the First Piano Concerto, his proud and unbending bid to fill the mighty large shoes of Mozart. The program is rounded out with Kevin Wilt's gorgeous and somber, Simple Sarabande.

Derek Gores Art Show
1911 14th Avenue •  Vero Beach

For New York artist Derek Gores, magazines are more than a form of media, they are his medium of choice. Where most people see a source of idle entertainment, the 45 year old NYC native sees massive creative potential, which he then unleashes onto canvases in the form of abstract impressionist portraits, quite reminiscent of Gustav Klimt albeit with far less implied lines, allowing the viewer to fill in the blanks to build a cohesive image. In his own words:

"I like my pictures to barely come together with teasing little details. Sort of like how the mind can't help but wander, even when trying to focus on one thing. In the collages, some of the little bits I use are deliberate, but in most I'm trusting randomness to help build an end result more interesting than I could have planned. One friend calls it a 'Zen Narrative.'"

Derek has also been chosen to be the cover of Vero Beach Magazine in a special pieces he did for them using pieces of the magazine. The original will be displayed at Gallery 14 during this exhibit. Derek will also be doing a mural in downtown Feb.7,8,9.

Comedian Dean Napolitano is a throwback to the great comedians of yesteryear only with a modern twist that makes him one of the most prevalent comedians working today. A true storyteller with imaginative delivery that makes audiences feel as if they have been through each experience themselves. Born in Long Island, New York, Dean first cut his teeth on the comedy scene working for clubs throughout Florida.

Comedian Vinny Santino is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana has been writing jokes since he was 16 years old and just keeps getting better with time.  A neighborhood guy who’s been dragged all over the world, Vinny pulls no punches as he gives his rough Rust Belt perspective on all that he’s seen.  Armed with quick wit, razor sharp delivery, and material on every subject you can imagine this Race Car City native brings the laughter as fast as you can handle it.
